So we are a good part into 2016 almost through Q1, and I thought I would take the opportunity to see what games that are coming out in the rest of 2016 to look forward to. So here they are in no particular order. Just want to watch all the trailers then click here
Uncharted 4 : A Thief’s end
So the last in the awesome Uncharted series comes in this year. I have loved all the Uncharted games to date, they are the leading PlayStation exclusive. I am very keen to find out how Naughty Dog intends to wrap up their beloved franchise, and hope that Drakes farewell is the best in the series (although its going to be hard to beat Uncharted 2).
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
I really enjoy Deus Ex: Human Revolution when it came out but felt that they could have made more of the choice system. For example equipping Adam for purely stealth made if very difficult to get through the game, where as equipping him for battle made it very easy. Hopefully the next instalment will much better balanced while maintaining the great visual style and interesting gameplay of Human Revolution.
Gravity Rush 2
Gravity Rush was originally an indie game on the Playstation Vita platform, and was at one point free to all playstation plus users, last year it made a remastered debut on Playstation 4. You take on the role of Kat in the original, who meets a cat that gives here the power to control gravity, Kat must then protect the people and battle monsters brought on by a gravity storm. The game had a lot of interesting mechanics and was visually stunning so I am very excited to play more.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan
I have always had a fondness for the Turtles, from when I was a child and watched the original animated television. Recently however my interest in them has once again been peaked with the Documentary Turtle Power, then the kickstarter campaign for a board game, and finally the comics by IDW. So when I heard that one of my favourite game studio’s (The people behind Bayonetta (PS3) and Vanquish (PS3)) it absolutely had to be in more games to look forward to 2016.
Mighty No. 9
Been one of the original backers of this game on Kickstarter, I have been looking forward to this game for a long time, not that I am complaining as I total understand they are small game team, want to make a world class experience. I love this style of game again probably because it reminds me of my childhood, playing them round my friends houses on the SNES or Mega Drive.
Rise of the Tomb Raider
So lets address the elephant in the room here, this game is already out you say. Well you are right of course it came out last year on Xbox One (well and Xbox 360) and more recently this year on Windows PC. I don’t own an Xbox One or a Windows PC. The reason that it is therefore on my list is that I am very much looking forward to playing this game on my platform of choice, Playstation 4. I very much enjoy the first game in the Tomb Raider reboot Tomb Raider Definitive Edition (PS4)
. With the more realistic Lara Croft and story line this made for a much better experience than previous tomb raider titles.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst
The original Mirror’s Edge (PS3) was truly an original game (something we see less and less now days as publishers prefer to play it safe with mindless gameplay and repetitive sequels) where shooting was possible but not the point, where you could explore the city as free as a bird. The Art style for the original was also visually stunning. With it slightly poor reception, I am glad that EA decided to give approval for a sequel.
No Man’s Sky
This maybe one of the most talked about Indie Games of all time, and with good reason. It is a massive procedurally generated beautiful looking world, that you can truly explore. It looks truly amazing and I can’t wait to get to play it.
Batman: A Telltale Game
If you know me at all then you won’t be surprised that there is a Batman game on this list, I love batman and I really enjoy the TellTale games having recently been playing Tales From the Borderlands. I haven’t seen much of this game, but can’t weight to find out what TellTale has inshore for the Dark Knight. Until is released I will just have to play more Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4)
Hyper Light Drifter
Another game that I started by backing on Kickstarter, I was very attracted to how beautiful this game looks. Even with is pixel art, art style and retro looks, this game is visual stunning and amazingly colourful. Been a Kickstarter backer I have played the beta’s of the game on Steam, but I am excited to play it in full on Playstation.
One to watch : Ghost In The Shell – First Assault
I love Anime, and my favourite franchise is Ghost In The Shell, from the movies to the TV series. I think Ghost In The Shell is one of the best stories out there. Unfortunately this game looks like its just another Shooter clone, a Call of Duty set in the Ghost In The Shell universe. The think I love about ghost in the shell is that it has so much depth and makes interesting points on what it is to be human. The game doesn’t look like its my “cup of tea” (Although maybe it is as I can’t stand tea ether) but the fact it is based on Ghost In The Shell makes it worth keeping an eye. The other unfortunate thing is that it is limited to PC.
